Tips for applying soft paws?

I've never used it before, so can anyone please give me tips on how to apply it? How much glue do I use? how often do I replace it? and my cat is a 7 month old male Norwegian forest cat (big sized kitten) will the kitten size soft paws work for him? and if he manged to swallow it, will it harm me?

You may also want to get a vet or groomer to do it the first time to show you how.
