Buddy does that ALL the time!! He'd sit on the edge of the tub while I bathe and would either act like he doesn't know his tail was eventually getting wet or he'd look at the tail as it'd start dipping into the water then he'd flick the tail up trying to catch it and start going around and around on the rim of the bathtub trying to catch the tail to groom..

He has fallen into the water numberous times due to this and he STILL is doing it!!

Buddy sounds great!

Have you got any photos of him doing it? I'd love to see that!

It is so funny how when their tails are wet, they seem to get a life of their own!

Could be something that I might try....

With past experience with "the boy" and ANY house plant etc, I am sure that he will just dig it up!!! hehe
