I have a couple of timed feeders that would be capable of putting wet food in (they have ice packs to keep food cool for a feeding several hours in the future)...IF they actually worked. My dear departed doggie pretty much trashed them, and they aren't opening and/or aren't keeping anything close to correct time.
Has anyone ever tried, or does anyone have any thoughts on, just freezing wet food in a dish and leaving the dish out? My thought is that it would thaw enough after a few hours for the kitties to eat it, and/or they could lick at it like a popsicle if they're too impatient for it to thaw.
I would only need to cover one meal this way...they will be fed in the morning, and the frozen would be their late afternoon meal, and then they would also have a couple of dry food snacks from a different automatic feeder that DOES work.
Is leaving a dish of frozen wet food out for them just crazy, or do you think it would work? Are there any safety issues you can think of, aside from the possibility of them playing hockey with the bowl and getting wet food all over the floor? I can guarantee they will eat it before there is any possibility of food borne illness...this would be for my two chowhounds.
