i have a very very shy scared 3 year old spayed cat

who runs when anyone comes to the door

i want to add a second cat and have tried a few

but they bullied her badly

does anyone have an idea what would be best to get

that wouldnt bully her

i tried a kitten i tried younger cats

but with no success

they even chase her out of the litter box

and i have two boxes in different rooms

is she just a one cat kind of cat

or shouldnt i be concerned

why do you want another cat?

if your cat is nervous and gets bullied, she'd probably rather be by herself.

Have you tried boy or girl cats? I tend to see boy and girl cats get along rather than girl and girl. The scaredy cat girl I am fostering LOVES my boy cat and actually is less acred hen he is around it seems.

I wouldn't try to introduce another cat into your household. I would assume she's happy by herself. What happened to the cats you tried to introduce her to before? Where are they now?

i would like another cat so i can give another cat a home
its either me over worrying -- as my family says-
or she really does prefer to be alone
she never hid from other cats it didnt get that bad
but she always seemed to be chased
and she was able to eat
just not always in peace
i hear of way worse than that from people
who keep multiple cats
but i do want her to be happy too

That's a great thought, and I understand you would love to help another cat. You have already tried a few cats, and your girl just has not done well with them.

How long has she been with you? Introducing another cat might go better in a few months or even next year.

Why don't you consider volunteering with a shelter? That way, you get to help more cats, and you also have an opportunity to meet cats that might eventually be a partner for your girl.

One of the best (and sometimes worst) things about cats is their individualism. Some cats need to live alone, and if yours is such a cat, you're already caring for as many cats as you are able, so you should not feel like you need to have more live with you.

Hi, I think it's great that you want another cat. I recently got another cat myself, and did a LOT of research on the subject. I have to ask, how did you introduce the cats to each other? One thing that kept popping up in my research was that you need to have them separated and introduce them VERY slowly. A cat expert from Animal Planet, Jackson Galaxy, has a good video about this on YouTube. Otherwise, I would do what some of the other posters suggested and volunteer at an animal shelter to really get to know some cats. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
