I am reading stories about evacuees from the California fires who are returning to their homes, and I have seen remarks like "My cat was still there, I thought he would have died" or "We lost our cat in the fire"...
My question is - HOW can you leave your pets behind like that? There is no way I could tear myself away from my house knowing that my cats could suffer a horrifying death because I did not take them with me. And even if the cat survived, what a horrible experience for him.
The answer might be that the people are told they can't bring pets, but I find that "rule" unbelievably cruel...
