I had absolutely no idea how to handle this shot, so I took a while shooting samples and trying out settings. It was cloudy, the middle of the night, and had just finished 5 days of rain, and these little guys were milling around in every puddle of water in the park. So I was having to compensate for darkness, reflections on the water, these little dudes are fast, etc.
And finally, I got what I think was a fairly decent shot.
But, the little crayfish was getting pretty much annoyed with all the light and noise, and did something I didn't expect at all. He came lumbering up out of the water puttin' on his very best "time to throw down" game face.
Now, I don't know just how much damage a 4" crayfish can do, but he had attitude by the bucket, and he had decided "it's go time!" So I got one more shot, with focus being less and less important as the leviathan attacked, and I headed for home.
