We rented this on the recommendation of a friend. This is his guilty pleasure movie, and I can totally see why. This movie isn't good, it's not even a bad movie one can turn off half way though. This movie is a train wreck of epic proportions that sends one down a path of no return... while singing horrible 80's music. The thing is I couldn't stop watching it.
Sent in New York City a young kung fu student named Leroy (Bruce Leroy to his friends) is set on a journey to find his glow. Now, there are four plot lines going on in the film, so it gets really confusing in parts. In a way it seems like one movie sort of slammed into another and the director just tried to make it work. So, if you are going to rent this for a laugh just understand that it's rough in parts, but it's all worth it in the end.
Now I'm going to mention a few things that make this film so much fun to watch.
1. It's a bad movie inter cut with scenes from good movies! When DH and I were watching it it kept cutting back to Bruce Lee movies like Enter the Dragon. This is a HUGE mistake for any director to make, because it makes the audience regret that they rented it, and gives them suggestions on how to make their night better by returning said movie and renting another.
2. If one is going to have a "big mean guy" as their bad guy my suggestion would be to not give him a leopard skin belt, foot ball shoulder pads, and have him look vaguely like Rick James. That's not scary. That's not even funny. That's a Halloween costume.
3. A tank with a man eating fish in it is always fun. In this movie it just makes sense. Why wouldn't you have one? I mean, who is Bruce Leroy going to fight?
This movie is so bad/good I'm going to buy it an watch it when I'm in a bad mood. The ONLY down side is that it's almost two hours long. If you can get though it it will all be worth it. Trust me.
