Hey all...I've been MIA for a while...on a self-inflicted forum fast because I was spending way too much time on the computer!
But I wanted to check in and tell you all that Maggie and Molly got spayed on Tuesday! So now all my babies are fixed, and we won't have to worry about any unexpected surprises!
They were very groggy when they came home, and it was kinda scary. Molly was all wobbly, and Maggie was growling at me for no reason. The vet tech said they were still coming out of the anesthesia, so they must have done the surgery much later in the day than they did for Max. After I gave both of the them one dose of pain medication, they slept for quite a while. When they woke up, they seemed to be feeling much better and I was able to feed them just a bit of food before bedtime.
I had to take them back the next day, though, because Maggie was starting to pull on the stitches and Molly was licking them alot. (My vet did a pretty long incision, I think, not quite 2 inches...so I was very concerned about them pulling out all those stitches.) We got them fitted for e-collars, which made Maggie particularly happy. They are both used to them now, but I know they are not enjoying the extra headgear much at all. I try to give them little breaks at mealtime and playtime, but as soon as they start going after the stitches...back on the collars go!
I do have one question, though. Is it normal for there to be hardness or the feeling of a small lump under the incision? I think I read somewhere that it is normal, but I can't figure out where I saw that. Maggie has two somewhat hard spots on her tummy, one at the top of the incision and one at the bottom. Other than that, their tummies appear to be fine, no redness or weepiness or anything like that.
