My name is Lisa. My sister-in-law has a cat named Dusty. Back in November we moved a little further north where our back yard was the woods. About two months ago Dusty must have gotten out...when we found him he was all beat up and bleeding. A fisher cat had attacked him and darn near ripped his insides out through his stomach and chest. We rushed him to the vet and they stitched him up. They said with time he would heal. Here we are now and the poor thing is worse then ever. His wounds have healed but, his health is terrible. At first he was okay but now, he won't eat he never goes to the bathroom and he just lays there. He dropped from the healthy 15lb kitty we know and loved to an 8 pound cat that is all fur and bones. We took him to the vet and they said he isn't backed up or anything and they really can't see anything wrong with him. A friend of mine went through the same thing and had to put her poor cat down. I really do not want my sister-in-law to go through that. We are really nervous and don't know what to do. The vets insisted there was no way it is caused by trauma. When we have him away from the house and in other areas, he tries to run around like he used to but once we are home he finds a place to hide and goes to sleep.
Does anyone have any suggestions? We are desperate and do not know what to do!
