My mum used to sing to me when she was putting me to bed at night. She would hug me and sing in my ear. She smelt of lovely face cream! This was the first song that I used to sing:

The doggy says, woof woof
The pussy cat says, meeeow
and mummy says, I love you

The cockeral says, cockadoodledoo
The cow says, moo moo
and mummy says, I love you

I am sure there were loads more versus but I can't remember them all.. lol

Yes, I remember the Gilly-Gilly song.

The first song I remember is a dual choice - they were Nellie the Elephant and Puff the Magic Dragon. They were both on a single (45 rpm record), I still have it in the roof, it has a lovely 70s cover
