Fluffy's original name was "Polly Prissypants" but she would give us dirty looks every time we called her that. So she got Fluffy after Eric Cartman's cat. DH does a great Cartman, so it is actually funnier than it seems reading it in a post.

For the most part, I have always named my cats after precious and semi-precious stones. My current two are Diamond and Sapphire, but I have had a Jade, an Onyx, a Topaz and others.
