Sammy was a beautiful, pure black kitty who came into the clinic one day in June last year. He came in at one month of age, and was hit by a car. He was paralyzed from his waist down; he couldn't even urinate on his own. We kept him in the hospital for a couple of weeks, and I took him home on the weekends because his bladder had to be expressed 4 times a day. After steroid therapy, he eventually got control of his bladder and bowels. He went home, and his owner was trying to get him fitted for a kitty wheel chair, but it actually slowed him down... he preferred a padded soft sock, dragging his legs around!
His mom brought him in to see me (specifically) every 2-4 weeks... I LOVED and looked so forward to seeing him. He was so strong! He even pulled down the Christmas tree! He just didn't know he was paralyzed! He was very loving and sweet, too.
I found out today that Sammy died from unknown complications, most likely from his paralysis. I'm gonna miss his visits, him running around me, climbing my shoulder, licking my face....
Play happily with all four legs, Sammy... I look forward to seeing you again.
