i'm about crazy trying to feed my cat now that he was diagnosed a month ago with CKD. What supplements are safe for him with CKD to replace the vitamins, minerals and amino acids (besides taurine)? I have read not too much magnesium, or calcium. He has the beginnings of oxalate stones in the kidneys.
The vet had said Kids Complete but they are fruit flavor and if I put them in food he won't eat it.
I also bought Ubiquinol for pets (Mercola) and then when it came it has .5% silica and I don't know if that is too much for compromised kidneys.
He is on Epakitin and Clavamox (antibiotic) Taurine and Prevacid and he needs supplements at least until I find a grain free, carrageenan free, low phosphorus, good quality protein food. One kidney is inflamed and it would be nice to find a safe anti-inflammatory product if I can't use the Ubiquinol.
CKD sucks. I think it is the worst disease that I have encountered and I have cared for elderly relatives, dogs and cats.
