I have expressed my frustration in other threads about trying to find a canned food for my VERY PICKY cat with IBD that:
A) She will actually like and eat.
B) does not have any of the ingredients that
she should not have
C) will not be vomited back up
My past successes have turned into failures when she has either stopped liking the food (or foods), or they have started making her sick.
On Friday afternoon, I decided to browse through Petco, and I picked up a variety of canned foods that might be promising, EVEN the pâté ones, which she does not usually like. To my amazement, she actually decided to be somewhat cooperative and at least try every food that was offered to her. I know that this could have gone horribly wrong, having her try so many new things at once, but there was no vomiting! She has actually eaten AND kept down a WHOLE can of each of these foods this weekend: Halo Spot's Stew (both the chicken and the lamb), Wellness Divine Duos (chicken and duck), and Instinct Pride Trickster's Tuna. To my disappointment, they did not have either of the Pride duck varieties. I really wanted to try those. I also bought her a can of the Rockstar Rabbit but I have not offered it to her yet. I'm a little nervous about feeding her rabbit. I know that tuna is not good to have often, but she did really like it. I was really shocked that she liked the Halo lamb and that she did not have a bad reaction to it, since she had never tried lamb before. She did leave about 4 peas on the plate, but that was it. My goal is to maybe find 3-4 foods that she really likes and that are easy on her stomach and feed them to her in a rotation. I am hoping that this will keep her interested, so that she will not get tired of the food and completely stop eating them, like she has done previously with other foods.
What do you think about the foods that I mentioned above? Could any of them be potentially bad? Do you have any other suggestions for grain-free foods that are free of corn, wheat, soy, carrageenan, etc.?
