sublaxated ankle joint

late late night i was woken to my 4 month old kitten yelping and hissing found his rear hind leg with a deformity looking like a dislocation..brought him to a 24 hour vet hospital( which was very expensive)a few xrays were taken the orthopedic stated he sublaxated his ankle joint which is not a complete dislocation now his whole leg is going to be splinted for 3-4 weeks and every week need to be resized due to him growing, has anyone ever had to deal witha kitten in a leg splint? he is not liking it very much and seems to be very angry ,any pointers would be great
