Hi,
I'm new here, and I thought I'd just for some advice... .
We've had a stray tom around for about a year - we've been feeding him, and he hangs around a lot. Recently (a couple months ago) a female cat, not spayed, has been hanging around. The tom cat is very friendly, and we think he was dumped here because our neighbors down the street adopted his brother - looks just like him - anyways, the female got pregnant and we just found her kittens a couple days ago (vet said they were about 5-6 wks). We were able to catch the kittens using a dog crate, but we had to use a havahart trap to catch the mother. The kittens were checked by the vet and they are 100% healthy, which is great. We have been socializing the babies, and they seem to be doing great. We plan on adopting them out in a couple weeks when theyre ready. Right now they are all in a large metal dog crate with a house, litter box, and food/water. We caught the father and had him neutered so we dont end up with hundreds of cats around. The problem is, the mother is pregnant again - about 5 weeks (we think). We plan on letting her have her babies and them putting them up for adoption as well. But I dont really know anything about cat pregnancy. When should we remove her current babies? Does anyone know what we should do? She's really scared, not that aggressive - doesnt really hiss - just very scared. What's the best way to socialize an older cat - she's probably less than a year old though. (I know this is very long - lol). . . Any advice or suggestions would be very helpful. What should we expect with the second litter? We plan to have her spayed after her 2nd litter is gone. Thanks.
