I need some advice as to what to do. I live on an upstairs apartment and just two days ago saw three kittens in my balcony. I honestly have no idea how old they are because I don't know anything about cats. We never go out to the balcony and don't have anything in there but there is tiny room where the heater is. I'm assuming tat door was open so the mother found shelter there.
I do not like cats so I cannot keep them. My roommate thought we should throw them out but I think that's too cruel. They don't really bother me out there since I never go out into the balcony but I don't want them to die out there. The mother seems to be very protective of so I guess that's a good thing. Today, I put milk in a small cup and left it out there. The mother drank the whole thing within a few minutes. Two of the kittens got curious and tried to drink the milk but I don't think they know how to feed themselves other than being fed by their mother.
I guess I just need sme advice as to what I should do. Like I mentioned before, I don't like cats but I also don't want them to die. I asked a friend about a cat shelter and she said they won't take them in this young. I'm assuming once the kittens are old enough to climb, they will leave. My question is, how long will this usually take? Will a shelter take them? I hear shelters might put them down and I wouldn't really want that. I also considered offering them for free on Craigslist but I'm sure no one will take all three kittens and the mother and I don't want them to be separated.
