Strange growth on cat paw ?

Ok, Here is a weird one. One of my cats (Gus) has this strange white lump growing on the end of his paw. It looks like a second claw coming out of one of his paw pads.

Could this be a wart ? Has anyone seen this ?

One of my kitties has this too. I try to keep it under control as I believe it to be dead skin, like a callous. I tend to scrape it down when they have their bath. It doesn't bother him so I'm not very concerned.
