Hi all,
my kitty is 4 months old and he's been with us for 2 weeks now. Last week I noticed a quite large (comparing to his tiny nose) hairy "bump" on the bridge of his nose. It has appeared suddenly and looks like a raised patch of his own fur with something underneath it. Not sure how to describe it better, so I'm attaching a photo with as close shot as I could get of the "bump" while the little one was sleeping. It doesn't seem to bother him at all - no pain, no scratching. However, at the same time, he started scratching under his thin and close to his one ear. Other than that, no sign of illness - very active, eating good.
I took him to a vet straight away and after some tests (ultraviolet showed no fungi; also, he's flea and lice free). The vet said that the patch on the nose could be a) a small injury of some sort; which I think is not very likely, because I guess it would be sensitive to touching or something;
b) an allergy of some sort. He was vaccinated a week before I took him home, so the vet says there might be a slight possibility he had a delayed reaction. OR the food allergy - I changed his food just a few days before the "patch" appeared. Might be a coincidence, though.
The vet also related the chin/ear scratching with an allergy too (other possibility is acne, she said) and prescribed chlorhexidine for these itchy areas.
However, I'm not concerned about the itching all, but very scared about that patch/bump on his nose. I changed his food back in case the kitty is allergic to it, but two days and no improvement. The vet advised me to watch the kitty closely and if the patch won't be gone in two weeks, she'll do further tests.
Any thoughts on what might be going on here? Thank you!
