Hey guys, my cat Chance is stinky! I don't think he bathes himself well and (I don't mean to be gross) but he often has feces left on his butt. Sometimes my other cat bathes him but this isn't often enough. I haven't tried to give him a bath yet. He is a super scaredy cat. It was hard enough to get him used to letting me pet him. I plan on giving the bath a try this weekend, but if it goes badly I don't know what to do. Anyone have any other ideas?

Is he fat? A lot of fat cats can't clean their butts. If so, he should be put on a diet (carefully! Cats can get very sick if their food is reduced too quickly). Also, sometimes cats with bad teeth will stop grooming themselves. He should probably have a thorough checkup soon.

He's not fat. He is average weight and he doesn't have bad teeth. He isn't even a year old. I only had him at the vet a month ago and he had no problems. Since he was a stray, I wonder if he mother abandoned him and maybe he never learned to clean himself that well?

Maybe EarthBath Cat Wipes would be a better option than a full-on bath? Much less stressful for both of you, I imagine.

What does your kitty eat? Sometimes diet can play a role in cat stinkiness.

Thanks! I will try the wipes after he has a bath this weekend. My boys eat NutroSource Cat & Kitten formula, the chicken flavored one.
