Some of our flowers are starting to bloom. We have blue flags (irises) opening up in the flower bed (my mom always called these particular irises "Blue Flags"). And there is one oriental poppy so far that has decided to bloom. Our pink azalea is blooming at the top of the driveway; right in front of the azalea are more irises that are opening. I love combination of the blue irises right in front of the pink flowers of the azalea. So pretty.
Our spring flowering trees are finished. We have a pink and a white weeping cherry that just finished blooming. And our redbud is turning green now. It's a very old tree, probably about 24 years or so and is really starting to look bad. DH has trimmed it, but it still doesn't look good anymore. He thinks we may have to take it down and plant another one.
The lilacs were gorgeous this spring. I love the smell of lilacs and we were able to open the windows throughout the house so the scent can waft through the whole house. One night I had Mollipop outside; I think she likes lilacs, too. We walk around the yard. I tell her what the tree is and then she sniffs the leaves. I always tell her, "No chew." When we got to the lilacs, she sniffed a bit, then she buried her nose into a flower! Then when the windows were open in the computer room and the scent would come into the room, she'd sit in the window with her nose up in the air, sniffing the smell. She's so funny.
The joe-pyes have really started to shoot up. We have some Jupiter's beards that are getting taller every day. Our lavender is filling in and looks so nice. The colombine is spreading out. And all of our newly-planted flowers have definitely taken root and are growing like crazy with all of our rain. Once more things start to bloom, I'll take some pictures.
