Big foam mats should dampen the sound and protect the floors too. Over here you can buy them at Home depot and sporting stores. Expensive though.

I may be wrong (wont be the first time)
But aren't you supposed to NOT let the pedals all the way down on each step? You go nearly all the way down, but you aren't to touch bottom.

Other than that as long as it is under the 6 or 8 pm curfew on noise I would tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine!!
