Hi everyone! I'm new to this site, but decided to join since I frequently check threads for advice. I have 3 cats. My boys are still kittens and around 9 months old. My girl is about 4 or 5 years old.
A recent visit gave me some much needed insight on my poor baby girl who has been limping around the house for a few months. She was diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous legion that wraps around her V9, V10, and V11 on her spine. It's a bleak situation. Surgery is not an option as the tumor is already disintegrating her spinal cord and growing at a rapid rate. Chemo was not given as an option either as spinal tumors generally do not respond to chemo.
I was told to expect paralysis and to consider euthanasia once it occurs. I'm crushed. Toothless (my cat) is only 4 years old. She's a very young cat. I hate that seemingly there is no way to help her beat this.
She is on prednisone and wears a fentanyl patch. Her appetite is healthy and it seems like she is gaining some much needed weight now that her pain is being managed.
I'm seeking advice. Does anyone have any experience with this? I feel terrible just sitting back, not giving her a chance to beat her cancer. Thank you.
