He is ok. The vet appt was at 9:40 AM, and the vet is on the way to work for me. And it is too far for me to drive back home so I had DH transport kitty back home (with explicit instructions to put Sophia, our Golden Retriever, in our bedroom before entering the house with the carrier, release Brady in the downstairs bedroom, and give him some FOOD (he had no breakfast, poor guy).Originally Posted by jkrodger
YAY! I'm so glad he got in there ok and did great at the vets!!! How is he now that he's at home? Is he still mad at you? I'm sure he'll get over it soon, and now with the nails clipped it's a bit safer to play with him!
Congrats!
I have been making sure the dogs don't get near the poop, but that is because-well, if you are a dog lover you KNOW why. Actually they have only been in the room once or twice. That is why I really like those hooded litter boxes!! And believe me, I have been washing my hands a lot! Is the poop the only thing I have to worry about or do I need to steam clean the carpet after Brady is no longer confined to the room? I figure we are getting to the point where he can have his freedom, but I do not want to turn the room upside down since it will probably be his 'safe place' for a while. Eventually I need to clean in there anyway....Originally Posted by jkrodger
Oh yeah, FYI, I'm sure the vet told you, but make sure your dogs don't get anywhere near Brady's poop. Tapeworms can release their eggs (and sections of their body) into their hosts poop and if your dogs eat it (or step in it and later lick their paws) or if you pet one and the other one licks it or your hands when you've handled the poop, they'll get it too (or you!) so confine that poop and make sure you wash your hands extra well after scooping the litter or petting Brady!!

Well we got the fecal results-roundworm. Fortunately Brady got his big yellow pill at the vet's so he should be ok.
Gloria, thanks for the tip about the wheezing. I think as long as I have two dogs who consider the cat litter box a treat dispenser I am stuck with the hood. I think things will get better now that Brady is getting back to good health.
im useing a litter called p.pod and let me tell you.. its the best litter in the universe. find it whatever the means ahah i think its pretty damn cheap too,i got it at bosleys. they always have really good food aswell. but this litter is 'all natural' plant fibers, i put quotes around all natural, because it goes without saying if its plant fibers. and it has a nice minty scent. let me tell you though..i nolonger have to struggle with my cats to give them a bath... they dont smell at all... and there is NO dust AT ALL! this is the best litter ever and i dont think i could stress that enough. even if its a little pricy out where you live... i would believe its worth the investmentOriginally Posted by GloriaJH
I don't know what litter you are using - I'm just "passing though" this thread and saw the wheezing thing - and,
just had to mention something ...
I've taken the cover off of the litter box because, no matter how much the litter product says there is little "dust" - there actually seems to be a lot!
I have a black cat, and I didn't realize how much dust he was stirring up until one day he exited from the litter box (with a lid) with white dust all over him - THEN, I took it one step further - and questioned - JUST how much of that dust is he breathing while he's in there? !! That was just too scary thinking I've been making him breath all that dust into his lungs, etc. So, as well as trying to provide the most dust free litter, I've taken the lid off, too.
Just my 2¢, hope I didn't get "off topic" for you.
Gloria
Thanks for the lead, will see if I can find it here in CA.Originally Posted by Thehouseofgods
