 And it seems like the pointed pattern is much more common in the domestica cat population in at least some parts of the US than it is in the UK.
This is true. I see a lot of pointed cats in my area.  Everything from the classic Siamese to lynx points to tortie points to cats like my Sheba.

Oh, my!!!!  What a bunch of cuties.  Mama looks so proud.   I guess you would call that a "cuddle of kittens"  The white one is going to be a spoiled darling.

Thank you!!:) the one that is mostly tiger is becoming to be a real escape artist! Lol always wanting to venture out of the nest! But Mama keeps a close eye on her!
