Hi!
I have an approximately 3-year-old boy (standard rescue, not a specific breed)... he's had problems with soft stools off and on for most of his life. He's sort of a nervous boy. After many fecal tests (negative for parasites) and blood tests (also normal, thank god) the specialist said it's most likely due to his rather anxious personality, and the fact that my girl cat tends to dominate him at feeding time (have tried separating them... it's not easy. He panics if I try to shut him in a room at feeding, and she raises a ruckus if I lock her in the bathroom, to where he runs away)... so anyway, I recently had some foster kittens for a brief time and right after the fosters he developed awful yellow diarrhea, would strain to get a little bit out, and cry and hiss after. It was scary and heartbreaking. Took him to the vet, and $220 later I left with a negative fecal, metronizale, and an opioid pain mediation. I have to take him in for an ultrasound soon... It's all getting incredibly expensive. I feed them freeze dried raw turkey with a decent amount of water, pure vita dry food while i'm at work, and a little Weruva paw lickin chicken canned food sometimes because my boy doesn't always love the turkey. I've started probiotics this week in the hope that it will help, plus some pumpkin the last few days... so for a few days after the start of probiotics he pooped out a LOT of soft diarrhea stool... and all of a sudden today he keeps going back to the litter box like he wants to go but can't. there is some diarrhea in the box when i scooped it. should i take him to the emergency vet? i feel like this situation has drained me. i have to go on a 2-week business trip sunday -- i can't not go. my cat sitters will give him probiotics etc but should i be worried? i feel like all the vet does is suggest more tests that tell me nothing, or try to sell me prescription food (that i tried, but made his diarrhea worse) -- help
