Soft paws for no reason?

I saw this ad for soft paws in the bag the shelter gave us. Are they only for cats that scratch a lot of stuff up or can you just use them for looks?  My kitties scratch the couch or their post sometimes but not a lot  (not enough for me to worry about it anyway). I just thought the soft paws looked rally cute I like the candy corn colors, the red and green combo and the silver glitter. They won't hurt them or anything right? They are just sort of like fake nails for cats?

I started using soft paws when Java was a kitten because she was fond of the couch. Now that she no longer scratches the couch (she learned very quickly) and is older (almost a year) we still keep them on her mainly because she plays with the dog and has caught his eye pretty bad in the past (blood was drawn). We have a few other reasons, including the aesthetics why we will keep them on. They are totally harmless and they really do last, at least in our case, anywhere from 2 to 3 months. You just have to keep an eye on them to make sure they pop off as the nail grows and the nail does not grow into them.

I would say go for it. But then again, I am totally biased and recommend them very often. Better to be safe than sorry. Of course, I would never put them on an outside cat because he/she would not be able to defend themselves and/or climb the trees.

Both my boys are indoor kitties and we only have the two of them no other pets.  I want the soft paws solely because I think they are cute LOL.

LOL.  I think they are cute too, but I definitely wouldn't use them just for looks.  They are hard to apply and I've seen reports of problems with cats getting their claws hung up on things more frequently than without the caps.  Plus, I would imagine that they can't get a satisfying scratch on a scratching post with the caps on (just guessing....I've never used them) and a satisfying scratch on a tall sturdy post does a cat body and mind so much good.  I think you were sort of joking??  Hope my reply wasn't too serious.

i thought of using soft paws when i first adopted my cats a few years ago. (they come in colours such as pink and glitter blue.) however, they learned how to use the scratching post and i clip their nails twice a month. so, i decided against using soft paws. cats wearing them are cute, though...

I have started using Soft Paws for Paisley because she scratches at her neck (due to an unknown allergy, at this point). I used another brand, but I like Soft Paws best because the have the CLS (cleat-lock-system), which keeps the caps on longer.

Feel free to put them on for cuteness reasons, but as txcatmom says, they can be a pain to apply. A few weeks ago, I felt triumphant when I was able to cover just one of her back paws in one night, lol. Also, wear gloves when you apply them, if possible, because it takes forever to get the nail glue off your fingers.

Best of luck!

Meg
