Once upon a time I could not pay my monthly student loans in the amount that was required, I did work (a lot!) but still could not pay my bills living where I lived and be able to afford to eat and drive my car to get to work. I called the lender and made other arrangements for a certain period of time on my school loans, sending in some required paperwork was needed so they could verify my salary but other than that a simple phone called solved a lot of the hardship. You might want to see if they will work with you - $1,000 every month is a huge chunk of money.
I agree with the others, don't lie. Did you do any internships in college? Who do your friends/family work for, or know? Networking is the most effective key when job searching IMO. Career fairs can be important as well. Putting your all into finding a job is sometimes more consuming than having a job! Best of luck to you. What is your degree?
