It sucked!
Looking lovely there, Jill. Did you wear your new pearls?

We did venture out last night for Thai food and a latte afterward. Good to get out of the house! The thermometer on the car said 2F... but didn't take the wind chill into consideration. Wind was kicking up to 30-35 mph.
Yeah that wind sucked for the windchill and the visability was crap!!!!

What was that about a gnome? Here's a shot from someone in Vancouver, WA... posted on KATU's YouNews page (way back near the beginning... yet only from yesterday)

I have no problems going out here in Portland... if the folks around me knew how to drive, etc. They're refusing the shovel/de-ice the parking lot of my apartment complex, so it makes things all the more difficult. If I could get out of the complex, I'd be fine, without chains... but I can't get out of the complex... and two buses broke their chains right at my intersection this morning alone. Not to mention the two trucks that got stuck, and the car that came about ten feet from hitting me (I was walking on the sidewalk) because he couldn't control his car... my store is closed today (as well as yesterday), and I'm off until the 26th... at which point most of this should be under control. Portlanders/Oregonians don't get this kind of snow often... it's incredible the amount of bad driving and hysteria that comes out when it does hit here.

If you would have sent her the pink set, it would have matched her pink scarf.

I really don't think Jill will be wearing any evening gown & pearls for a looooong time to come!
She'll be digging out from under for the next 6 months!

Now, if you wanna think about sending me some pretty pink pearls, I should be set to go in another day or two..

My idea of perfect weather:

70-80 degrees up until Dec 23.

Start snowing 4:30 p.m. Dec 24, and snows 2 feet deep.

Temps in the 20's until Dec 31.

Back to 70-80 Jan 1.

If I ever hit the lottery, I'd buy a house in Hawaii and one in Jackson Hole, WY. I'd go to WY for Christmas.

I do have to admit, I DO miss the snow on Christmas. It just doesn't seem the same w/o it.
I used to just love taking a drive to see all the pretty lights on Christmas Eve while it was snowing out. It's just so serene, peaceful, & pretty!

Since you won't be able to wear your pretty green pearls for quite awhile, you could always loan them to me till it warms up again.
It's in the 60's here right now. I promise I'll give them back!

No way Jose'! You're not getting my pretty pearls!
But, you send me a airline ticket to come visit you, I might let you wear half and I can wear the others and we can go out together!
What do ya think? I could use some nice weather!

How do you suppose we'd share a pearl necklace?
Earrings can be separated, but a necklace?
I don't think Gemlady would like it too much if you split her necklace in two!

I'll tell you what: I'll send half your plane fare IF you send the pearl earrings, and the pretty pair of dangly star earrings, too.

BTW, it's in the 70's here today. I was wearing capris & a short-sleeved shirt while out running errands.

Am I bribing you enough yet?

We had a lot of snow on the ground but it is all melting!

This is what it looked like outside my house last night:

(the fuzziness in the air is fog, not snow-- it was already warm enough for things to begin to melt.)

This is what it looks like today:

Snow by stairs last night and today:

The temperature is currently SIXTY-THREE DEGREES which is almost unheard of in late December in Chicago! Unfortunately that means flooding, our basement is already flooded.

Me, greedy?
Only when it comes to jewelry!

If it's any consolation, it did get colder here again, and I'm not wearing capris and a short-sleeved shirt.

Did I ever tell you about the gorgeous green chrome diopside ring that I have?

Maybe we can make a trade?

No, you seemed to have forgotten to mention that! Though I don't think I'd still be able to part with them!!! Did I ever tell you about the really pretty pink jeweled watch I sent my SS 2 years ago?
Oh yeah, and complete with pink toilet brush!

I don't blame you! I wouldn't be able to, either!
