My kitten (7ish months) has some smalls scabs that look and feel like they are beginning to lift. It's about a 2 inch strip or less on the front of his one leg starting at the shoulder. I 'think' he had something similar under the same arm about 2 weeks ago but that area is now smooth. But I suppose I could have just gotten confused about exactly where the area was. He has never had other scabs and does not have them anywhere else on his body. Just this one small section on the front of his leg.
My kitten is not bothered about this in any way, but I thought I would get some opinions. He had a food intolerance that gave him diarrhea but we have switched foods and that is clearing right up. I am unsure if this is related or not. He does not scratch or lick the area any more than normal grooming. The skin around the scabs is a normal color and does not show irritation besides the scabs. In a kinda yucky comparison, they remind me of scabs I had one time after a sunburn on my own scalp. The scabs themselves are also a normalish pale skin color and look like they are lifting.
If this is the same irritation I noticed before then it has been about 3 weeks. If the other cleared up ( I thought it was under his armpit and not in front) then that lasted about 2 weeks and this is new within the last few days.
Is there any urgency to take him to see the vet? Or should I keep an eye on them for a few weeks? Is there anything I should do about them in the mean time? Leave them to fall off on their own? Massage gently with a washcloth? Apply ointment?
Thanks!
