Try to find a feline only vet if you can. Cats are very different from dogs and the same rules for dog kidney disease does nog apply for cats. Fat and protein are fine for a cat and needed. Carbohydrates are not good. Of course with a cat that does have kidney disease you want them on canned food for the added moister but if she won’t eat it then stick with what is working. I still think an ultrasound with a specialist will give you far more information. Remember there has to be a loss of around 70% kidney function in chronic kidney disease for it to show up in the blood work. The fact that her glucose was high enough and for long enough that she had diabetic neuropathy would make some amount of kidney damage very likely.

Just a quick point about the AAFP 'Find a Vet' site........under "Practice Type", select "Feline ONLY".

If there's a choice of Vets at the clinic, you'll want the one with the greatest amount of actual practice time.....that's often the owner(s).

I am still not thinking a food change is the solution for Sister, so alternatives need to be looked at and researched.
Thanks for that advice about not switching foods yet. Sister's 2nd Urine Protein Creatine Ratio test was yesterday, and her numbers improved. The first test was 1.2. Her results yesterday went down to 0.6. Still slightly elevated, but I am elated. She has one more test to go in two weeks. Had I changed her diet as the vet suggested, it would be unclear whether her current high protein food was causing the issue. And the vet may have pointed to the Hills K/D as the reason for Sister's test improvement. :)
