Silent heat

My cat is 13 monts old and she didn't show any signs of heat. So i took her to the vet and they told me that this behaviour is called silent heat and she needs surgical intervention.
Please help!!

I would go ahead and have her spayed. She is still in agony from her hormones and getting spayed saves her from common mammary cancer and others. One way to tell is to scratch her at the base of the tail and see if she assumes the mating position, or if toms are sniffing around your house. She can easily get pregnant with litter after litter because you don't even know when she is in heat!
