She's never had one like this before. Well - when she was first rescued, but that was extreme. She was so riddled with herpes when rescued, she lost an eye and most of her hearing to it. But since then, she's NEVER, not once, had a flare-up! She's 10 this year.
She has had ongoing problems with her lungs from a really bad lung worm infection when rescued - scarring has left her with early stage asthma, high blood pressure, and as of last year, she does seem prone to bronchitis. This usually presents as just a dry sounding cough. She's had it three times in the past 1.5 years, and it goes away with Doxy.
Well, she's been sleeping and not wanting to eat much. Things like this usually pass almost as quickly as they come. But this time she has a wet cough. Her one eye is red rimmed - though not running - and her inner eyelid is showing as of last night. She's sneeezing and it's messy, so we're off to the vet today.
Obviously I bumped her lysine to 1,000mg a day when this started (2 days ago). But she doesn't eat enough to get all of it in her, so I've ordered some lysine treats that should be here tomorrow.
I just don't know if lysine is all I should be giving her, or if she needs an antibiotic. So we're off to see the vet. I'd appreciate some vibes for her - I hate seeing her like this! :slant:
