My husband and I want to take up the shrubs across the back of the house and put some new ones there. I want something that is low growing and does not have to be trimmed on a regular basis. Of course, it has to be a type of plant that is not toxic to cats. I also want something that can provide some shade and yet is not really bushy at the bottom We live in the country and I want to have something I can see under and be sure no snakes or animals are hiding under them. Are there any suggestions.
