I was inspired by Allie's thread about Shelter Kitties. There may be some cross over here, but that's OK. I would like to see the former ferals that we have taken into our hearts and homes and worked so hard to gain their trust.
Here's mine:
She looks so wild, doesn't she?
Ophelia is our Fate kitty. We had been talking about how nice it would be to have a pet, but we couldn't afford the pet deposit, etc. etc. The next night we heard a kitten in distress, scared to death and obviously in peril. We figured out that this kitten was stuck in between the walls of the apartment building, between our bedroom and the next apartment. So we broke a hole in the wall (what else was there to do?!?!), and about 5 hours later this tiny little ~6-week old kitten came through. From her reaction to seeing me, it was obvious that she had either never experienced a human before, or she had and it was all bad. She really was a classic feral kitten (not that I knew what that was at the time!), but with lots of love and patience she learned that we would never hurt her. I do think that she had some bad experiences; she is scared to death of plastic bags.
And she is so scared of anyone but us.
