Should we let Fosters be the "groomsdog" at our wedding?

Ok my best friend and I work for a couple that got married last year. We work at a doggy daycare! But ANYWAYS, at their reception they called my friend and asked her to bring their 2 dogs to the wedding! I would love for my dog to be in my wedding... but I'm not engaged... Hope to see pics!

Over the river and through the woods...
My friends had their dog, Duke, in their wedding party and it was so cute! First the bridesmaids went down the aisle, then the flower girls, then Duke (a hound mix) complete with a bow tie, "escorted" by another friends 10 yr old boy, then the maid of honor and finally the bride. Duke sat the in the front row right beside the Groom's mom and watched the whole thing (he didn't come to the reception though
).

I do recommened if you do that, make sure at rehersal you have the same music playing if possible. Duke was fine at rehersal, but once that organ started playing, he got stage fright!

Before our wedding I was thinking about Harley being the ring bearer. Then, I thought about the merry chase he would lead us on under the pews and up into the choir loft, to get them! St Francis may have loved it, but not me!! It would have made for an unforgettable wedding though!

Where my cats are
I think that's wonderful! When my best friend got married she and her step-dad had worked out a gag of sorts where her step-dad presented her dog to her husband as his step-child. Toby is a basset hound and quite the howler, so he was only at the reception for that and then he was outside on a lead behind the church. The kids had a good time playing with him out there!

My cousin and his wife had their labs in their wedding. Tate and Molly (one is golden the other chocolate, they are sooo cute!) both had flowers around their necks and sat up with them during the ceremony. They were married in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, basically in a flower field with the Tetons in the background. They even had special pics done with the dogs at the wedding. It was really beautiful. They got married just 3 weeks after I did, or I'd have figured out a way to have been there.

My BIL had his dog (female) at their outdoor wedding- she had a big bow that was made out of the same (plaid) material as our bridesmaids' skirts
. It was fine (my parents about died though! LOL)

I think that it's a fantastic idea. He's part of your family, and as long as he can behave properly during the ceremony I don't see any reason not to include him. If you do decide to do it, make sure you get lots of pics! I'm sure everyone here would want to see.

Wow! Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone! It's great to hear of soo many other dogs being in weddings!
We still have not decided yet, but hopeully we will soon! The one thing i was worrying over is that the wedding site is quite a bit away from our home so someone would have to take him to and from. Also, i'm not sure where we will be having the reception yet and it will likely be somewhere he won't be able to go- so i'd hate to ask someone to take him back home before that and have them miss the reception. Ahh i'm not sure what we're going to do yet! We'll figure it all out! I would love to have him in it though if he can behave.

I think i'm going to start working more with him than i normally do and try to take him around bigger crowds of people and just see how he does before i make a final decision!
He's such a wiggle butt i'm not sure if he can sit still for an hour or so. He could definitely sit for a good 30 minute but i think we can work our way up to that!

Definately! I would have loved the kitties to be a part of my wedding but they would have just been too scared

If you think he will be well behaved enough, then go for it! Just don't forget to post all the pictures on here!

I think it'd be an adorable idea. Rob & I joke about having Tigger be a ring bearer (although we know that would never REALLY happen, she'd take off like her tail was on fire!).

I think Fosters would look fabulous in it!
Good grief......I need to go into sewing doggie outfits! That simple little tux was $119.00 !!! (And I thought those silly cement goose outfits were outrageously priced!)

I think it's an awesome idea to include him.
like you said he's a huge part of the family, so why not?
you must get pictures, too!
I wonder who voted for dogs shouldn't allowed at weddings.
If they are well-behaved they should be allowed to be a part of it.
If I ever got married, I would want one of my dogs to be a part of my wedding.

Aww thanks guys! I told my mom we were thinking about having Foster in the wedding tonight and she about stroked

(it was hilarious. she had come over for dinner and when i told her- fosters just happened to be standing up with his paws on her shoulder trying to kiss her
) As much as I would LOVE to have him in the wedding, i'm really starting to wonder if it might be just a little too much excitement (when he sees people, like my mom that he absolutely loves to death, he wants to go over to them and "visit" and give hugs and kisses....we are going to work with him and see how well he does between now and the next few months. If i think he's up to it, we'll have him in the ceramony. If not though, it'll be ok eithor way i think

The more I hear about Fosters, the more I love him.
Wish I lived closer -- I'd be happy to wrangle him for you on the day.

Hey, do you know anyone who's a petsitter? Maybe you could hire her for the day!

A friend of mine just included his dog in his wedding - the dog carried the rings down the isle on a pillow
It was cute.... Whenever I eventually get married, haha, I pretty much plan on my dog (or dogs, whatever the situation is then) being at the wedding - not necessarily part of the party, but definitely in attendance! The animals are part of the family, so why wouldn't they be invited?!
