If there are other cats around and he's still intact that probably is where he has gone. Are your neighbour's cats all fixed? Do you know of any feral colonies around? Cats tend to congregate together, so he's most likely off with the other outdoor cats.

Have you asked all your neighbours if they've seen him? Put up a notice with his picture on saying;
