Hi all, I'm new to this site and it's lovely to meet you all.
My Grandad had a cat whom lived very happily outdoors, she had a sheltered area built into the shed via a cat flap and lived to be 18 years old, she passed away a couple of years back.
I've always loved cats, they're one of my favourite animals, unfortunately my parents and sister have a different outlook and aren't fans of them. They don't like cats on sofas, kitchen counters, beds etc and generally not in the house, so when I asked for one the answer was no.
We do however have quite a reasonable sized shed which a cat could live in as a shelter and at night, and obviously throughout the day it would be able to go out as it pleases. I was wondering what thoughts on this were? The cat would have lovely beds, toys, enrichment and I would generally make it very homely and cosy for him.
Obviously I would hate to bring a cat into the family if it was going to be lonely or unhappy, which is why I came here to ask for advice. My parents are much more likely to agree to an outdoor cat.
Many thanks
Leah
