@DonnaJean, I'm sorry for the delay. I've been "out" with an injury and can only type with one hand (pilling three cats with a fractured elbow is not ideal, either).

I'm so sorry about Boo. There's a list of Sebastian's current regime on page 21, post # 627 of this thread.

Right now I'm using RenewLife probiotics, but it isn't very palatable and I have to split it into gel caps and pill him with it. Since Sebastian is allergic to guar gum, I have him on a protein rotation of premium canned with no guar gum and home-cooked. I will post back on his specific "menu".

Again, I'm sorry about the setback with your boy. I'll check out your thread.

So sorry about your fracture...

Yes, I am at a total loss, including finding a premium "hypoallergenic" novel protein cat food..

Royal canin has a Rabbit in dry but why in the world would you have Soy Protein in the food ???

I also heard that they are planning on doing away with their one protein  hypoallergenic RX diets and going to a mainly hydrolyzed form ! So, Hill's Rx Diet of Rabbit was discontinued in 2012-13 !,

I have only located a tiny few cat foods that "may" be appropriate but they are questionable.

feline Cavair Holistic New Zealand Venison grain free dry

addiction Black Forest Rabbit and Blueberries (canned)

Nature's Variety Instinct Dry Rabbit LID

I am looking at Ziwi Peak also

Problem is I want to eliminate The Guar Gum and Carregean (sp?) but so far if I find one that looks good it either has one or the other...

Nature's Variety does not have Guar Gum or the latter but I know Boo won't eat the rabbit in their canned.

I am looking into S. Boulardii, from what I have researched and have been reading this looks like something that benefit him...

So stressful when your babies don't feel well ... at least he is eating and so far for the past 3 days he has kept his food down......

I have not been following your thread since the beginning, but my heart and prayers go out to you and Sebastian. I well know from personal experience (as many here also know) that when your cat is sick and you cannot get them well, it is heartbreaking.

I was just wondering where you are located?  As others have said, it may be time to see a specialist and have a fresh set of eyes look at the tests and at Sebastian.  My cat Elmo (who passed on 6 years ago) was ill with vomitting and inability to defecate. I took him to see four different vets who had four different diagnosis and treatment plans. one vet had him doing enemas, evacuations twice a week. I finally found a vet who was known to be an excellent diagnostician - I pleaded and begged for an appointment as this vets calendar was full. He saw him and took an X-ray and examined him and diagnosed Elmo with advanced intestinal cancer. While the news was not good, after tormenting elmo with useless medication and treatments, at least I had an answer. He was scheduled for surgery which was daunting and not guaranteed to work. Elmo passed on before the surgery could be performed.

I guess i am suggesting that you need to see a specialist or two.   There are some excellent specialists in NYC who focus on gastric issues - it may be worth packing your bags and taking a trip. University vet schools are also a great idea - Cornell, Tufts are two that come to mind.

As others may have asked - have you had the pancreas diagnostic test?

All my thoughts and prayers are with you and Sebastian.

@elmomax, thank you for the well wishes. I'm so sorry about your Elmo.

Sebastian has been through a whole gamut of tests (including the Spec fPL) and multiple ultrasounds. We've worked with 5 vets - a traditional vet (Western medicine), a sonologist who is also an internal medicine specialist, two holistic/homeopathic vets, and an integrative vet who specializes in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

He's currently doing really well on a regime I outlined on page 21, post # 627.

Sebastian was/is not feeling too spiffy the last several days, and it's my fault (again).
I left Caesar's food out on the kitchen counter again on June 14, and Sebastian got at it. He ate most of it. I punished myself by not having a glass of wine that evening (effective). Sebastian's ear broke out worse than ever within 48-72 hours because Caesar's food had guar gum in it.

He's okay and eating. But this does make me wonder if all this time his problems stemmed from this severe allergy to the suspected guar gum. Too coincidental for him to be doing fine until he scarfed down Caesar's food.

When I got home from work tonight, I noticed marked improvement in his ear (a week later since it first broke out) and he was meowing and following me around to eat. Slowly the allergen is leaving his system. It takes forever.

When I thought Obi may have had a food allergy - I  dont any more - I eliminated guar gum, carageenan, and agar agar...I just figured a cat did not need seaweed, fillers, or what cultures bacteria in a lab.  I did not realize these ingredients could be allergens.  It makes me mad that so many companies stick these ingredients in our kitties' food, and it makes, at least some of them, SICK.    One would think the companies would care about this.  If they have to use fillers and stablizers, can t they use something else??  Poor Sebastian!  poor you.  (I think you should have that glass of wine this evening).

What's weird is that Sebastian doesn't have such severe reactions to anything else. I mean, his ear gets REALLY angry, so I can only imagine what may be going on inside his little body. A lot of times the focus is on grains and proteins when addressing an allergy, and we forget about the other stuff.

I did have a glass of cold white wine last night...after cleaning up a hairball from Boo!
