My glasses have so many tiny scratches, it drives me crazy.. so I'm going to be looking into getting new ones as soon as I work up the courage to go out and face the people for an exam and all. I don't clean them perfectly like they tell you to, but I'm not hacking at them with paper towels either.. I never used to have such a problem with them messing up so easily. I have to wonder if all the coatings they talk you into are what's scratching up? It looks like the coatings are wearing off around the edges or something. Or maybe they are sacrificing quality as they keep making the lenses lighter and thinner? I can't complain too much about that part I guess, my eyes are so bad I have thick lenses as it is.
I work at a groomer as a bather, so I'm wiping off my glasses a lot when dogs shake water everywhere. I use a soft cloth I keep by the tub, but I don't have time to stop and carefully clean them, especially when I'll probably just get wet all over again! Even if I wore the old ones at work and the new ones only at home.. these started to get the scratches before I even had the job.
Does anyone know if not getting the coatings would help? Or if there's a different lens material out there that doesn't scratch up so easily? Or something? I've considered going back to contacts, but they used to drive me crazy. My eyes always felt so dried out, and I worry about how that would work out with my getting soapy water flung into my eyes sometimes.
