was euthanised on Saturday. Dx of maxillary cancer 6 weeks ago, he was 'well' at the vet visit last Monday, Dr. said how strong and brave a kitty he was. My ex husband was many unpleasant things however he loved animals. He stopped a US Mail tractor trailer on I95 at 3AM Thanksgiving morning in 2000 because he saw a pair of small yellow eyes reflected in his headlights. Schroeder (he called him Shoulder) has a cracked pelvis and a buckshot pellet in his rump...at 8 weels old! The cat(s) stayed with me when the man left. Schroeder was a peaceful sweet cat whose greatest pleasure was giving -massages- to 'tubby'Tucker...a barn stray with one eye who eventually became rather large...so schroeder woulkd hop on and groom/massage him. Lord did the long black hair fly! They cuddled together on the chair... a blob of two clack cats. When Tucker was euthanised three years ago due to cancer...schroeder was bereft. My new long distance husband finally joined us two years ago and schroeder became -his-. lounging on his desk.lap as husband did his computer consulting. I am 66 yrs old and have NEVER seen a grown man cry until last week when it became evident Schroeder would wait for us at the rainbow bridge. Ex husband LOVED the animals but could never handle being there at -that- time. Dearest A held Schroeder as he was given a peaceful end by the mobile vet. At home. on A's lap which he loved so much. When he was gone we curled him up in his favorite -bird watching- bed and his ashes were returned yesterday. We will put them with Tuckers...and they will cuddle...Tucker will mew happily as Schroeder -massages- his neck and the fur will fly until we join them. Joy will have 4 legs again, Tucker will have two eyes...everyone will be whole and my dearest husband and I will be surrounded with joyful meows as we cross together....
