Do both parents have to be Russian Blues or can one just carry the gene? Mom was a Farrel Black Tortie shell, daddy was traveling man. Could my kitten turn out to be a Russian Blue or just a Blue of some other breed?
Russian Blue is a pure breed. Cats can't be purebred unless both parents are purebred. However, the color blue is pretty common in the general cat population, it's the dilute of black. Dilute is a recessive gene so it could come from many generations back. But both parents need to carry that recessive gene to have it show up.
