I went to my veterinary clinic 3 weeks ago and the clinic gave me a measuring cup for Marla's dry food, they told me to give her 1/2 a cup of dry food every morning and every night. is it normal she is a little bit more heavy than last month? she has a very small food dish.

Look at the calorie content of the food you feed. A cat should eat between 20 to 25 calories per lb of body weight. Use the number of calories she should be eating based on her weight and figure out how much (1/4, 1/3, 1/2 cup) food she should get in a day based off the amount of calories in a cup of food.

It seems a lot depending on the calorie content and cat age.
