Retching

My cat has been retching for a while now and I have no idea why. Sometimes she will vomit, but lately its just retching. Does anyone have any idea why she is doing this? I'm taking her in on Tuesday for a dental and I'll ask the vet then.

It is very easy to confuse coughing and retching in cats and this can be a sign of respiratory or cardiac disease

With this in mind I would make an appointment for him on Monday and I would also postpone the dental.

It could be a hairball that he's having a problem hacking up as well, but the sooner you get him to the vet the better
