You're definitely not alone, a lot of women get stalked, and a lot of them don't get taken seriously. I've been stalked twice, and whenever I told people they just said things like "Oh that's so cute, I wish I got that kind of attention" or "Don't worry about it, he just has a crush". It's ridiculous. Being stalked is a scary, and serious thing. Everyone here has given some really great suggestions. I always have a good grip on my car key when I'm walking to my car. Whenever I get harassed I first tell the harasser to leave me alone in a firm tone. If that doesn't work, I threaten them,(I've gotten really good at sounding like I mean business). If they still don't stop, I implement the tried and true kick to the testes technique, and run somewhere where there's a lot of people, making a lot of noise along the way.
