My only and favorite cat, Simon died what you could call a violent death. He always wanted to go outside, even in winter, but we restrained him and only let him go outside a few times in 2 weeks or if he got lucky, and managed to slip under our legs when we were entering our apartment.
We lived on a quiet street so we were never particulary worried about his safety. Then on this fateful January, 31, 2007 he managed to slip outside in the snow. Later, when my dad had some stove to move in a house he bought, he asked me to help him. I went outside, and collected a flashlight from the trunk of our car. When I turned around I saw Simon laying down in the snow. My first thought was, "Wait a minute, Simon never stays in one place when he is outside". It was a few seconds later that I discovered he was ran over by a car... Now the apartment seems desolate and lifeless. Everything reminds me of him. A windowsill he loved to sunbathe on, grass he used to eat when he was outside, the general thought of a cat reminds me of him. I feel horrible
. The shock of sudden death is the worst. Absolutely devastating. Goodbye, Simon. You were playing that morning... now we're burying you.You won't be forgotten. You were unique. No matter how many cats look like you, act like you, sound like you, they could NEVER substitute you.
Love, the family
P.S.: I hope that the person who ran over Simon, even considers, that the cat he/she killed was treated like a family member and was deeply loved. If not, he/she should be treated like scum for commiting murder and causing so much grief.
