Our cat was spayed 11 days ago and we decided to take the stitches out tonight. She let us cut them (after a long and dramatic struggle) but we can't seem to pull them out. They are teeny tiny and she's panicked and I'm not sure we should even try right now. My question is, is it dangerous for us to leave them in longer? My only experience with stitches is my dog and hers came out fairly quickly. Any help/advice would be amazing right now!

Can I ask why you are removing the stitches and not the Vet?

Personally, I would never attempt to do so. It has to be done carefully, so not to endanger the incision and the cat, or cause any harm.. The area should also be looked at by a Vet, to make sure things are healed properly; and there are no signs of infection.

The cost of removing the stitches should be included in the spay fee...

I think they should not be kept in longer than 2 weeks...

Please do not try to remove anymore of them and get her to the Vet for the rest...

poor baby...

And if I may ask, why did your remove your dogs stitches, also...

Agree that this does not sound like a safe or sanitary procedure for you to do. Please take your cat to the vet.
