“For the Fallen” by Laurence Binyon. That poem and “In Flanders Field” by John McCrae (a Canadian) never fail to make me tear up. For me, they have almost a sacred feeling.

I found a photo of my grandfather when he was stationed in Palestine after WWII. His father fought in Galipoli (he was a crazy cat man, and named one of his cats Izmar after his time in Egypt), and his parents met at a munitions factory. My grandmother's dad was killed in an air raid during the Blitz.
