I have four of my own indoor cats, so I am at my limit both legally and financially. We moved into our rental in July 2012 and there's been two poor strays that I've been feeding and caring for as best I can. Today one of these little guys showed up with a torn ear from a fight and so I took him to the vet as it just broke my heart. He's very friendly, he's not at all aggressive and backs down to all the other strays in the area. He's so loving, he gently climbs into my lap not using his claws and then puts his arms around my neck and rests his head on my shoulder.
This is not the first time he's been injured living outside, when I first met him he had a crinkled ear that looked as if it was mangled long ago. Now his other ear had to be sutured and while he's at the vet he's getting blood tests and will be vaccinated and neutered as well. So - by tomorrow he should be considered much more "adoptable". Personally I am strapped, I have been on medical disability following a surgery so money is tight. I know the vet will work something out with me but the bill is $707 for everything they said was necessary. He is at Community Companion Animal Hospital in Temple City, California. Dr. Wong is the vet. Please PM me for their phone number.
I am humbly asking for help for this guy that we call "Crinkles" -- finding him a place to live and if anyone is feeling like they can help with a little bit of the bill that would be wonderful too...I am happy to have someone pay the vet directly and confirm anything they feel in order to know this is for real.
My biggest concern is that I can't keep him inside with me other than a couple of nights closed up in the bathroom (we only have one) while his sutures heal. I don't know what I got myself into with him, I just couldn't look the other way when he showed up on the porch this morning bleeding. He was so mellow at the vet, they remarked how calm and sweet his disposition is.
I will send pics and info to anyone, I have had a hard time adding pics to this post and getting it to work so am trying without pics this time.
