Did anyone have an experience with older rehomed cat? My neighbor just took in 5-year old cat someone needed to rehome due to dogs being mean to her. She is declawed, spayed and she was all her life with this one family. Even bottle fed. So, this is her second day in my neighbors house, she is scared, just sitting under the bed and hisses when my neighbor comes closer to her. One time it seemed like she wanted to pounce on her. How long can it take to adjust for an older cat? Any advice?

Only the second day? It will take several weeks at least for her to completely feel comfortable. She has been traumatized by the dogs, then had her world completely upset by the move to the new house.

The best advice I have is to let her take her time adjusting. Don't force contact. Just talk to her quietly, feed her and keep her box clean. That is the best way to let her adjust.
